Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced his Government’s determination to resolve issues relating to Telangana’s rightful share in Krishna and Godavari waters and completing the pending irrigation projects.

“We will pursue this objective without compromise yet with tact and political wisdom on any platform,” he said at the State Formation Day celebrations organised at the Parade Grounds in Hyderabad on Tuesday (June 2, 2026). He lamented that several projects launched under Jala Yagnam of the earlier Congress Government in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh and those launched in 2014-15 remained incomplete.

The government was working with unwavering determination to complete pending projects by undertaking necessary land acquisition as these would provide irrigation to new command areas to the full extent anticipated. Concerted efforts were being made to revive the Pranahita-Chevella, considered a boon to Telangana and a letter had been addressed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tummidihatti barrage recently.

“We will formulate and implement an action plan to construct Tummidihatti barrage. The Kaleshwaram project constructed at a cost of Rs. 1 lakh crore suffered structural failure within three years of its completion. The burden of repairs has now fallen upon our government,” he said. It had accordingly initiated restoration works on Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages in the interest of the people.

He said that after education and irrigation, the government laid equal emphasis on agriculture and spent Rs. 1.56 lakh crore on farmers’ welfare in the last 30 months. Rs. 27,529 crore was credited into farmers accounts under Rythu Bharosa including Rs. 8,744 crore in just nine days in last monsoon season while Rs. 5,700 crore had already been credited this year.

This was in addition to procurement of harvested crops by paying MSP to ensure that farmers did not fell pray to middlemen and face exploitation.

“Despite facing financial burden, we are purchasing every single grain of farmers’ produce,” he said. The government had spent Rs. 82,840 crore on procurement since assuming office. Paddy procurement was taken up during the current season through 8,575 procurement centres and 63.65 lakh metric tonne of paddy had been procured so far entailing Rs. 11,903 crore. This includes 10,000 tonne of wet paddy where the harvest was damaged due to unseasonal rains. “No other State is in a position to compete with Telangana in paddy procurement,” he averred.

The State at the same time witnessed an unprecedented surge in cultivation of sorghum and maize cultivated in a record 16 lakh and 4 lakh acres respectively. The government had borne the expenditure of approximately Rs. 4,275 crore for procurement of maize and Rs. 1,154 crore on sorghum.

Referring to Indiramma Indlu weaker section housing programme, he said Rs. 22,500 crore was allocated in the first year involving sanction of 4.5 lakh houses. Construction of one lakh houses had been completed in 13 months and the government was firm on completing the remaining 2 lakh houses by September 17, Praja Palana day. Telangana’s initiative on weaker section housing emerged as a role model for the entire country, he said.
