President Trump on Sunday congratulated the Los Angeles Dodgers and their ownership for their 2025 World Series win against the Toronto Blue Jays, adding that he would see them at the White House.
"Congratulations to the L.A. Dodgers, a game won by incredible CHAMPIONS!!! A lesser group of men would never have been able to win that game, or game 6, for that matter. So many stars made it all happen. Also, congratulations to ownership. What a great job they have done. SEE YOU ALL AT THE WHITE HOUSE!!!" Trump said in a Truth Social post.
The Dodgers trailed for most of Game 7 on Saturday before earning a 5-4 victory after 11 innings. This is the Dodgers' second World Series win in a row, following their 2024 victory and making them the first team to win consecutive titles since the New York Yankees won three straight from 1998 to 2000.
Trump, who was then the Republican presidential candidate, also celebrated the Dodgers’ victory over the New York Yankees in October 2024, praising the team’s resilience, talent, and “movie star” looks.
In April, Trump welcomed the Dodgers to the White House. The president used the event to take an apparent swipe at California’s Democratic senators, Sens. Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff, who were not in attendance for the event in the East Room. However, he did not refer to them by name.
“We have a couple senators here. I just don’t particularly like them, so I won’t introduce them,” Trump said in April, after rattling off a list of California lawmakers who were in attendance.
The Dodgers were the second champion sports team to visit the White House since Trump returned to office, following the NHL’s Florida Panthers. It is a return to tradition after many sports teams skipped visiting the White House during Trump’s first term.
The team's recent win also comes after Trump deployed thousands of National Guard troops to Los Angeles in June as immigration protests erupted and turned violent at times.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and the state’s attorney general have challenged the deployment as unlawful.
