NEW DELHI: Delhi high court on Saturday directed Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal‘s wife and five other individual respondents to take down video recording of court hearing in excise policy case from social media platforms. It also directed the social media companies to take down any other posts or reposts of any video recorded on the day.
The Delhi high court also served notices to various parties, including Sunita Kejriwal and several social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube for violating court’s video conferencing rules during Arvind Kejriwal’s appearance before the Rouse Avenue Court on March 28, while he was in police custody.The court has now listed the matter on July 9.
The plea, alleging that Arvind Kejriwal and others illegally recorded the proceedings of the trial court, said, “The post regarding this audio/video recording was circulated on X erstwhile Twitter with the #MoneyTrailExposedByKejriwal. The circumstances in which the audio/video recording went viral smell deep conspiracy by the political parties to malign the image of the judiciary and mislead the common people of this nation, and also to show the general public that the judiciary is working on the behest of the government and under the pressure of the central government.”
The plea noted that the recording of Arvind Kejriwal narrating his story, which lasted approximately 9 to 9:30 minutes, has been widely circulated on various social media platforms.
The plea also alleged that several members of the Aam Aadmi Party and various other opposition parties intentionally and deliberately recorded the court proceedings with the willful intention of maligning and manipulating the proceedings. These recordings were then circulated on social media platforms.
