A drama started to unfold on December 19 regarding the show-sharing arrangement between Baby John and Pushpa 2.
While the issue was temporarily resolved, the debate has resurfaced as to how many shows each film should receive once Baby John releases on December 25.

The Christmas clash continues as PVR Inox has insisted on allotting 60% of shows to Baby John and 40% to Pushpa 2. For single-screen theatres, they’ve insisted on a schedule of 3 shows for Baby John and 1 for Pushpa 2 – The Rule.
PVR Inox has already opened advance bookings for both films in their theatres for December 25.

However, some theatre owners are unhappy with this arrangement. They argue that Pushpa 2 is still performing exceptionally well and continues to draw large audiences, so they are unwilling to drastically reduce its number of shows.
An industry expert commented that a flexible approach is needed. In some high-end multiplexes or regions where Pushpa 2 is nearing the end of its run, the 60% allocation to Baby John might make sense.

However, in mass-oriented theatres where Pushpa 2 remains hugely popular, a 50-50 distribution would be more appropriate.
One exhibitor from a small town in Rajasthan expressed frustration with the demand to give more shows to Baby John.
He stated that the demand-and-supply principle should apply, meaning Pushpa 2 should get either the majority or an equal number of shows.
He said, “I request Ajay Bijli from PVR to visit my theater and see the craze for Pushpa 2 and then tell me why I should give more shows to Baby John?”
However, in the industry there’s an unwritten rule that a new, big release should be given priority over a 3-week-old release.
