Remarkably, the Sukumar directorial has edged past Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed sci-fi drama Interstellar at the North American box office in its initial run.

According to a report by Box Office Mojo, Pushpa 2: The Rule currently sits at the fourth spot in North America’s box office rankings, trailing only Moana 2, Wicked, and Gladiator 2. The film has amassed a solid $1,700,000 from 1,245 theatres, outperforming Interstellar, which earned $1,370,000 from 165 IMAX re-release screens.
Back in India, Pushpa 2 has claimed all IMAX screens, forcing the postponement of Interstellar’s IMAX re-release. The film has already achieved a jaw-dropping 500 crore worldwide gross within two days, with 400 crores gross just from India.

It also set a new benchmark for Indian cinema, recording the biggest-ever opening day with over 250 crores, breaking the previous record held by RRR, which opened with 220 crores.
With exceptional word of mouth and massive demand in both Indian and international markets, Pushpa 2 is expected to rewrite history.

It is projected to cross 600-650 crores net in Hindi alone and is on track for a lifetime worldwide gross of Rs. 1,300–1,400 crore, solidifying its place as one of Indian cinema’s all-time greatest box office successes.
