Sunrisers Hyderabad was the show-stealer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. Though it ended up as runner-up, the team delivered a phenomenal performance throughout the tournament and became favourites for many people.
However, it faced a major setback ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Former star cricketer Dale Steyn, who was Sunrisers’ bowling coach, decided to part ways with the team. He announced the news officially on social media.

Steyn shared the news by writing, “A big thank you to Sunrisers Hyderabad for my few years with them as bowling coach at the IPL, unfortunately, I won’t be returning for IPL 2025.”
Though he left SRH, he will continue working for Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the SA20 team of the Sunrisers franchise. “However, I will continue to work with Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 here in South Africa. Two-time winners here in SA20, let’s try to make it THREE in a row,” wrote Steyn.

Steyn maintained a very close relationship with SRH since its inception. He represented the team from 2013 to 2016. Later, he returned to the franchise as a bowling coach in 2022.
The 41-year-old South African fast bowler is an iconic player in world cricket. He is considered as a modern legend, especially in the Test Cricket.
