Koratala Siva Is Back on Track, but What’s Next?

    Koratala Siva

Koratala Siva has directed only six movies so far, but his commercial track record is impressive, delivering the biggest numbers for heroes, with the exception of Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s multi-starrer Acharya.

Devara concluded its first weekend, and the results, including the Hindi box office, indicate that the film will be seen as a successful venture for both the hero and the director.

Devara will become the first film for NTR to enter the $6 million club, with his previous highest in North America being $2 million.

In Hindi, Devara will also be declared a bona fide hit, as its organic growth and steady run are impressive. The final lifetime gross is predicted to be between ₹70 crore and ₹100 crore.

Given how low Koratala was after Acharya, the big relief that Devara brought for him raises the question: What’s next for the director?

It means he is back on track and will remain in the game. Moreover, Devara has given him the confidence to continue making pan-India films. But, he needs to deliver another solid pan-India hit to join the elite league of South Indian pan-India directors.

However, the biggest challenge for Koratala is the lack of available Tier 1 stars.

Koratala just directed NTR, whose next two films are already locked, and Ram Charan is moving ahead with Buchi Babu for his next project after Game Changer.

As for Prabhas, he has a full plate with multiple films lined up with Sandeep Vanga, Maruthi, Hanu Raghavapudi, and Nag Ashwin.

Mahesh Babu is committed to Rajamouli for the next few years, so the big question is: Which star hero can Koratala secure dates from for his next project?

Only Allu Arjun somewhat has an open schedule, but he is still waiting for Trivikram to wrap up his pan-India script. Unless he ditches Trivikram for Koratala, there is no Tier 1 star from Telugu cinema with available dates, which is a strange scenario for a director like Koratala.
