After the setback of Vidaamuyarchi, Ajith Kumar is set for a powerful comeback with Good Bad Ugly (GBU), directed by Adhik Ravichandran. The film is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on April 10.
With just a few days to go, pre-bookings in Tamil Nadu are happening at a rapid pace. As of yesterday, GBU had already raked in around 9.25 crore in advance sales across the state. It’s now on track to cross the 10-crore mark by tomorrow, making it one of the strongest openings for an Ajith-starrer in recent years.

While the domestic buzz is high, the overseas response has been more measured. In many regions, pre-bookings haven’t started yet. In the US, Good Bad Ugly has made around $150,000 across 300 locations and over 7,200 tickets sold.
The total North America advance stands at $240K, slightly below Vidaamuyarchi at the same stage. However, with more locations opening soon, trade experts expect a healthy jump.

There’s growing chatter in trade circles that Kollywood needs to improve its overseas release strategy. With stars like Ajith, many feel that international promotions and scheduling should be far more aggressive.
Still, GBU carries massive expectations. It’s being called one of the best-marketed Ajith films in recent memory. If the content clicks, it could easily turn into the highest-grossing film of his career.
