    Devara Song: Why Anirudh? Why?

    Anirudh

NTR and Janhvi Kapoor star in the highly anticipated pan-India film Devara Part 1, directed by Koratala Siva, with music composed by Anirudh.

The film’s second single, Chuttamalle, was released today but has received mixed feedback from audiences. The tune is decent and nothing extraordinary. On top of it, many have found it quite similar to the viral Sri Lankan song Manike Mage Hithe by Yohani.

There are allegations that the tune of Chuttamalle resembles Manike Mage Hithe, with some users on social media accusing Anirudh of copying the track. Comments like “Anirudh stole this tune” have been circulating, casting a shadow over the young composer’s reputation.

Despite Anirudh’s impressive track record and his growing fan base among younger audiences, these accusations have been disappointing. Even if happened unintentionally, how could Anirudh or anyone in the team not see that it resembles Yohani’s song?

The first song from the soundtrack initially did not make any huge impact but gained traction over time. However, the second track has quickly been criticized for its similarities to the viral song.

Shilpa Rao’s sultry vocals and Janhvi Kapoor’s glamorous performance in the song suggest it might still become hugely popular.

However, the controversy over Anirudh’s originality has raised questions among fans and critics alike. After a long time, Anirudh had the opportunity to compose for a major pan-India film outside of Tamil cinema, but he delivered a song that has a huge hangover of the viral track by Yohani.

People on social media are asking, “Why? Anirudh .. Why?”
