Ajith Kumar’s latest release, Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, has been breaking records, and is on the way to becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025. While everything seems to be going good for Good Bad Ugly, things took an ugly turn after an incident of a fan fight in Kerala went viral on social media.
In the video, which has been shared by multiple accounts, we see the events unfolding in a theatre in Kerala where there was a physical altercation between Ajith and Vijay fans after the latter group allegedly created a ruckus in the theatre by chanting celebratory wishes for Vijay, who has recently started a political party.
Here’s the video of the fight:

For the unversed, this rivalry goes back a couple of decades, and fans of both the stars have constantly indulged in such issues. Although both stars have had dialogues and songs in their films adding fuel to this rivalry, things have settled down in the past decade with both actors moving on different paths with their films. However, the constant altercations between members of both fandoms in real life, and on social media, prompted Ajith to disband all his fan clubs, and he has consistently condoned this unchecked behaviour by his fans.
According to Pinkvilla, the disturbance in the theatre lead to disruption of the screening, especially because the altercation turned violent, and people had to be escorted out of the theatre. This has lead to heated arguments on social media too with sections of netizens calling out the violent response even as fans of both actors were indulging in a game of oneupmanship, in terms of box-office pull, fan strength, etc… Recently, Trisha, who plays a starring role in Good Bad Ugly, expressed her concern over people trolling her for acting in the Ajith film. She called them out for posting nonsensical stuff, and labelled them toxic for their mindset.
While this fan fights and rivalry used to be normal back in the day, it is disappointing to see this continue even in the digital age. Incidentally, during one of his off-the-race track interviews, Ajith vehemently told people to stop celebrating their matinee idols and look after their own lives and take care of their families.
Also, in a beautiful move, there is a reference to Vijay’s iconic “I am waiting” dialogue in Good Bad Ugly with Ajith uttering the same. When the stars are exhibiting so much camaraderie, it is disappointing that the fans haven’t gotten the memo, and are still wasting time and resources in fighting an unnecessary fight that is not helping anyone involved.
