As the world has erupted in protest against the onslaught against innocent lives in the Gaza Strip by Israel, many K-Pop communities have also mobilized, demanding change at their individual levels, whether it be pressurizing entertainment labels to cut ties with brands or individuals that endorse Zionism, or encouraging their favorite K-Pop stars to speak up in support of Palestine.

A group of Atinys (ATEEZ’s fanbase) also participated in similar actions under the tag of “Golden Hour for Palestine,” Golden Hour being the latest album by ATEEZ.

While fans were organizing and urging the boy group to speak up, their latest social media post created a huge buzz. On June 14, KST, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of ATEEZ, tweeted a link to a dance challenge to the group’s song, “WORK” from Golden Hour. The tweet contained multiple hashtags, one of which was “#WORK_for_Palestine.”

Though the hashtag was removed from the original tweet after around 30 minutes, fans noticed it right away and started reposting it with details about their campaign or information about how to help people in Gaza. Many also took it as a sign of acknowledgment from the group and their team about Atinys’ continued efforts for Palestine.

Thanks to the momentary push from ATEEZ’s account, the hashtag and the phrase “ATEEZ For Palestine” started trending worldwide. Needless to say, fans have felt immense encouragement with this move and plan to continue with their activism even in the fandom sphere.

This is, however, not the first time ATEEZ has responded positively to its fans’ support for Palestine. Two of its members removed pictures featuring Starbucks from its social media after fans informed them about the ongoing boycott against the brand. You can read more about it here.
