Brazilian deeptech Doroth raised a $4.5M round led by Loccus.
Founded in 2019 and based in Piracicaba, Brazil, Doroth develops lab on a chip platforms for molecular diagnostics. Its devices automate sample preparation, genetic material extraction, amplification, and analysis.
Doroth focuses on agribusiness, where its technology detects pathogens, microorganisms, genetically modified organisms, and resistance genes in leaves, seeds, grains, milk, and meat. It can also identify infectious agents in insect vectors such as the corn leafhopper and Aedes aegypti.
Doroth will use the funding to expand its research, development, and production capacity. The partnership combines Doroth’s research and product development capabilities with Loccus’ manufacturing, distribution, regulatory, and industrial infrastructure.
