Burglars struck the house of a retired Rural Water Supply (RWS) Department divisional engineer at the Postal and Telecom Colony on the outskirts of Madanapalle in Annamayya district in the early hours of Thursday (August 13, 2026), and took away gold, silver and cash.

The Madanapalle police said the burglars cut the window grilles and entered the house while the occupants were asleep. They reportedly broke open an almirah and stole around 670 grams of gold jewellery, two kg of silver articles and ₹25,000 in cash. The theft came to light when the family woke in the morning.

The police from Madanapalle I Town and the crime station reached the spot and began an investigation, besides deploying a clues team and a sniffer dog. CCTV footage from the neighbourhood is being checked. A case has been registered on a complaint by the house owner, Ravindra.
