Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (August 7, 2026) hosted about 45 MPs from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) constituent parties over breakfast, during which he expressed concern that repeated disruptions in Parliament were denying the country an opportunity to hear talented new MPs.
Those present included MPs of the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), who recently quit the Trinamool Congress to join the NDA bloc; the Shiv Sena, the Republican Party of India (Athawale), the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), the AIADMK, and the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, BJP chief Nitin Nabin, NCPI MPs Khalilur Rahaman, Yusuf Pathan and Abu Taher Khan; RPI (Athawale) chief and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, RLM president and Rajya Sabha Member Upendra Kushwaha, AIADMK Rajya Sabha Member M. Thambi Durai, and UPPL chief and Rajya Sabha Member Pramod Boro were present at the breakfast meeting.

NCPI MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar told presspersons: “The Prime Minister said those who are with the NDA for the last 20 years or even one year are all family members. He said we will work hard for the development of West Bengal and the eight northeastern States. We all will work together. This is a very good message he has given to us, we all will work together.”
At the meeting, Mr. Modi reportedly stressed the need for the smooth functioning of Parliament. He urged MPs to practise yoga regularly, undergo periodic health check-ups and contribute effectively to nation-building. Assuring support for constituency development, he told them not to worry, saying he stood with every MP.
