Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy has directed party legislators to raise their voice against poor drought management by the Congress government, Bidadi township, BMIC project and KPSC scam during the upcoming Legislature session in Bengaluru.
Mr. Kumaraswamy, who is also the JD(S) State President, had convened a meeting of the JD(S) Legislature Party in Mysuru on Saturday evening.
Pointing out that the State Congress government had “completely failed” to manage the drought situation in the State, he asked the party MLAs to raise their voice on the issue in the House.
He said the party must also oppose the “unscientific” Bidadi Township project, which he alleged was against the interests of farmers. He said farmers face the threat of losing thousands of acres of fertile land because of this project, and that the party must stand for the farmers.
Mr. Kumaraswamy also asked the party legislators to raise their voice over the Bengaluru Mysuru Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project. He said that the land acquired for the purpose of building the road is allegedly being used for real estate purposes. Thousands of farmers have not received compensation to date, he said while pointing out that the Karnataka High Court had recently expressed strong displeasure over this project.
Mr. Kumaraswamy said the MLAs should also draw the government’s attention to issues concerning the people of the State, including irregularities in the KPSC, irregularities in police recruitment, the Valmiki scam, and inadequate garbage disposal in Bengaluru city.
The meeting was attended by JD(S) Legislature Party leader C.B. Suresh Babu, MLAs including former minister H.D. Revanna, A. Manju, C.N. Balakrishna, Venkatashivareddy, Hanur Manjunath, Samruddhi Manjunath, M.T. Krishnappa, Sharanagouda Kandakur, Karemma Nayak, H.T. Manjunath, G.D. Harish Gowda, Swaroop Prakash, and MLCs C.N. Manjegowda, Ravikumar and Nemiraja Nayak.
