SOMAREALITY, a Vienna-based software company that provides eye tracking algorithms to measure cognitive states in real-time, has secured over €3 million in an oversubscribed Series A round.
The round was led by Catalyst Romania, with participation from the company’s existing investors MT-Lab, RDY Ventures, Moondust Ventures and Gateway Ventures. This marks the 13th investment for Catalyst Romania Fund II.
Adrian Brodesser, co-founder of SOMAREALITY, said, “With our presence in B2B and the trust put in us by our clients and partners, we’ve proven that cognitive insights based on eye tracking is here to stay. Now, with persisting interest in personalised health as a whole and renewed interest in wearable eye tracking technology, we’re bringing our scientific underpinning to B2C and thereby to anyone who has always wanted to understand how their mind works but has never been able to outside of the lab.”
Founded in 2020 by Brodesser and Michel Varilek, SOMAREALITY is a DeepTech startup that is on a mission to redefine what it means to understand cognitive processes, such as cognitive load, attention, perception, fatigue and overall performance based on eye tracking technology. It offers real-time insights into cognitive states based on eye tracking data.
Explaining how eye tracking enables cognitive insights, the startup mentions that it analyses eye movements closely linked to cognitive functions such as attention, memory, and decision-making. Specific patterns, like saccades or fixations, can indicate how information is processed and which cognitive tasks are engaged.
The company states that the solution is hardware agnostic and developed as a white-box approach, enabling accurate and personalised insights after only a few seconds of data. After launching its flagship product, Cognitive Load, the company has followed up with innovation in conscious perception, attention measurement, fatigue onset and soon overall cognitive performance and health.
It offers its solution both as a local integration and as a web-based service. In addition, it is currently actualising on-chip deployment so that the technology can run seamlessly on any pair of wearable glasses.
SOMAREALITY reports over €2 million in revenue in B2B since the go-to-market with its first biomarker in 2024 and growing traction in high-risk industries such as aviation, healthcare, professional sports and in general research. In 2025, it had more than doubled its revenue compared to the previous year, driven by strategic partnerships with global leaders in eye tracking hardware solutions as well as software distributors across all continents.
Alin Stanciu, Partner at Catalyst Romania, said, “At Catalyst Romania, we aim to partner with companies that don’t just improve what already exists, but rethink entire industries – and SOMAREALITY is doing exactly that. By turning eye-tracking data into real-time insights about how people think, they are opening up a new way to better understand the human mind, with impact far beyond current use cases.
“We believe this shift – from simply observing behaviour to truly understanding how people think – has the potential to reshape sectors from healthcare to human performance and beyond. With this being our third investment in Central and Eastern Europe outside Romania, we’re excited to support the team as they build a global leader at the intersection of science and practical human insight. We have strong confidence in their ability to execute, their scientific expertise and their ambition to define this new space.”
The company intends to allocate this capital directly to three key strategic initiatives for 2026 and beyond: expansion of existing B2B segments, supporting newly launched longitudinal studies to measure and predict cognitive health and human performance over time, and, last but not least, powering a brand extension into B2C, reaching a whole new market.
