Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday (June 18, 2026) welcomed the announcement in the Governor’s address that a Social Justice Survey will be conducted after the Census, contending that it marks the acceptance of the party’s 46-year-old demand.

Terming this announcement as historic, he said, “When Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay came to my residence on May 11, I emphasised the necessity of conducting a Social Justice Survey to protect the 69% reservation in Tamil Nadu. Following that, on the 5th of this month, we convened a meeting in Chennai with leaders of all political parties and social organisations, and passed a resolution demanding a caste based survey, termed as a Social Justice Survey, be conducted. In fulfilment of that, the announcement has been released today in the Governor’s address. It has been announced that the survey will be conducted under the exact name requested by the Pattali Makkal Katchi—the ‘Social Justice Survey’,” Mr. Anbumani stated.

Mr. Anbumani said despite urging various Chief Ministers over the past 46 years—from M.G.R. down to M.K. Stalin—this demand had not materialised during their tenures, but it has now become possible under the administration led by Mr. Vijay.
