Prince Harry on Thursday apologized to Canada for wearing a Los Angeles Dodgers cap while at a World Series game, where the Dodgers were playing against the Toronto Blue Jays.

“Firstly, I would like to apologize to Canada for wearing it,” Harry told Canadian broadcaster CTV, referring to the scandal as "hatgate."

“Secondly, I was under duress," he said jokingly. "There wasn’t much choice. I was invited to the L.A. Dodgers box, or the dugout, by the owner himself, so I thought I was doing the polite thing to do."

After putting on a Blue Jays hat during the interview, he explained that because he is "missing a lot of hair on top," he also wore the Dodgers cap to cover his head while "under the flood lights."

"You'll take any hat that's available," he said with a smile. "So Game 5, Game 6, Game 7, I was Blue Jays throughout. Now that I've admitted that, it's going to be pretty hard for me to return back to Los Angeles. But now I'm very sorry to the Canadian public."

Harry used to live in Canada, which shares the same monarch in King Charles III.

Though the Dodgers trailed the Blue Jays for most of Game 7, they earned a 5-4 victory after 11 innings last week. This led to the Dodgers' second World Series win in a row, making them the first team to win consecutive titles since the New York Yankees won three straight from 1998 to 2000.

"Devastated that the Blue Jays lost, but go Jays," Harry added.
