Takehiro Tomiyasu has left Arsenal following a mutual termination of his contract, according to a report.

Tomiyasu has been plagued with injuries since his £19.8m move from Bologna in 2021 but has remained a popular figure with fans.

The Japanese defender played just six minutes of football last season and underwent another knee surgery back in February.

Tomiyasu was expected to to be out of action for at least another five months with his deal set to expire at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

And the 26-year-old will no longer be seeing out that contract with BBC Sport reporting that a \'contractual settlement\' has been reached.

Tomiyasu came into last season injured following a previous knee injury which had required an operation in 2023.

He made 84 appearances in total for the Gunners across four seasons, contributing two goals and six assists.

Arsenal have already been strongly linked with defensive reinforcement this summer with Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera a top target.

Left-back Kieran Tierney has departed to join Celtic while Oleksandr Zinchenko could also be headed for the exit door should an appropriate offer come in.

The north London club have agreed deals for midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard as well as goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

A new striker remains the priority with Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko the leading candidates.
