The Ernakulam Town North police have registered two cases in the wake of a scuffle at a DJ party that was held at a bar hotel on Saturday midnight in which a person from Thodupuzha suffered injuries on his face after a woman attacked him using a wine glass.

While the woman from Udayamperoor was charged with attempted murder for attacking the man with a wine glass, the injured person has been charged with sexual misconduct, based on the woman’s complaint.

Both of them had arrived to attend the DJ party. While the injured man claimed that the woman attacked him without provocation, the woman said she was enraged at him for misbehaving with her multiple times during the event. The attack on him led to a deep cut behind his ear, which required four stitches, the police said.

Suspected ganja seized

Personnel of the Kochi City police seized 16 kg of suspected ganja from two youths hailing from West Bengal on Sunday, while their counterparts from Ernakulam Rural seized a total of 18 kg of ganja at Odakkali from two people from West Bengal.

Those arrested following a tip-off from near the FACT, Eloor, are Afsal Hussain, 24, and Rony Sekh, 19. They had concealed the ganja, which they are said to have purchased from Odisha, in two travel bags. They used to supply ganja to sellers in different parts of the city, the police said.

The arrest by Ernakulam Rural Police of Khalil Mandal, 41, and S.K. Sameem, 26, which led to the seizure of 18 kg of ganja too was based on a tip-off. Khalil used to work as a labourer at a building site. The duo used to sell ganja for ₹25,000 a kg. A probe is on to identify their customers, says a release.
