    KEY HIGHLIGHTS

    • RCB will face GT in Match No. 70 of the IPL 2023 on Sunday.
    • The match will take place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
    • There are high chances of rain playing spoilsport in Bengaluru.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Gujarat Titans in Match No. 70 of the IPL 2023 on Sunday (May 21). The final league stage match of the ongoing cash-rich league’s season will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru . The match against the defending champions is a must-win for Virat Kohli ‘s team. If they lose (by more than six runs), then Mumbai Indians or Rajasthan Royals can qualify for the eliminator clash for sure, and if RCB win, then the scenario will depend on the net run rate unless MI loses its game against SRH earlier in the day.

RCB’s fate on the field is in their own hands because by the time they take the field in front of their home fans, MI’s game will be over, and they will exactly know what they need to do to progress to the next round. If MI loses, they will only need to avoid defeat to progress, but if they (MI) win, they (RCB) have to win anyway to progress.

But their chances of reaching the playoffs could be hampered by the poor weather forecast in Bengaluru. It rained in Bengaluru on the eve of the game, and if the heavens fall on Sunday as well during the match, RCB’s chances will be on the knife’s edge. They will be relaxed if MI loses against SRH, because in that case, even a draw will take them through, but if MI beats SRH, then RCB will have to win.

As per the current update by Accuweather, there is a 65 percent chance of rain at 7 p.m. in Bengaluru on Sunday, and it will drop to 49% around 8 p.m. The probability again rises to 65% around 9 p.m. but will see a dip of 40% and 34% around 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., respectively.

Bengaluru Weather Update on Sunday (May 21)

The RCB fans and players who are still waiting for their first IPL trophy will hope that if MI win their game, they get a chance to play a full-fledged game in Bengaluru and there are no rain interruptions. If MI lose, RCB have to win to progress, and if they lose, they can only afford a margin of less than six runs because anything above that will push them below Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2023 points table, and the Sanju Samson-led side will qualify for the eliminator clash.
