IPL 2023 Schedule: Star Sports are all set to reveal schedule for the 16th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) today. The 10-team tournament is likely to start on March 31st and end likely on May last week. Star Sports will reveal the details today at 5:00 PM. Apart from Star Sports, JioCinema will also have live streaming of the schedule reveal. IPL 2023 is expected to start on March 31 or April 1. Not only the IPL Schedule, but Star Sports have also planned to celebrate 15 years of IPL. IPL 2023: IPL completes 15 glorious years, Star Sports to celebrate the momentous occasion with IPL stars and legends of Indian cricket
It’s been 15 years since Brendon McCullum lit up Bengaluru stadium with his heroic knock of 158. It has been over 10 years since Indian cricket got Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah through IPL. It’s also been 15 years of where ‘talent meets opportunities.’ Star Sports will capture all the memories and give fans a trip down memory lane.
The ‘Incredible’ Premier League has grown significantly over the past years, with an additional two teams joining the fray, making it one of the most competitive cricket leagues in the world.
Speaking at a press conference organized by Star Sports to celebrate 15 years of the IPL, former Team India opener Virender Sehwag recalls the first IPL Auction when he was with the Indian team in Australia, “A lot of time has passed since the inception of the IPL. My children have become adults and they’ve started playing cricket too. But I will never forget the first time we were briefed about this when we were in Australia. Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri approached us and said that there is going to be an Indian Premier League and they were asking for all our rights.”
So, we were wondering whether the league would be successful or not – what if after giving away our rights we do not gain anything from it. But they assured us that the coming years will be very big for cricket in India and whatever rights we grant to this league, we will be able to earn much more than that. Money was secondary at the time, but we didn’t know that the league would give rise to so many youngsters who would one day replace us and become stars.”
Speaking at a press conference organized by Star Sports to celebrate 15 years of the IPL, former Team India off-spinner Harhajan Singh recalls how language commentary has helped reach out to fans across the country
“For me, when I started playing cricket, my family at home used to hear commentary in English or listen to the news in the evening. But now, with Hindi commentary, even they have understood what exactly I am doing on the field. The knowledge they have received through Hindi commentary has been extraordinary and helped them understand the game better.”
