Heavy rainfall over the last two days has caused severe havoc in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, leading to severe waterlogging in homes, streets, and cities, making transportation between areas extremely difficult.
In a tragic incident, a young scientist died after being washed away by floodwaters in Telangana.

The victim, Nunavath Ashwini, was a scientist at ICAR – National Institute of Biotic Stress Management’s School of Crop Resistance System Research in Raipur.
Ashwini hailed from Gangaram Thanda in Singareni mandal of the Khammam district. She was travelling to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad with her father, Nunawat Motilal.

Unfortunately, their car was washed away by the overflowing Akeruvagu at Purushothamaiahgudem in Maripeda Mandal, Mahbubabad district.
The Akeruvagu stream, overflowing due to heavy rains, had cut the bridge and resulted in their car getting submerged in flowing floodwater.

Ashwini and her father made their last calls to family and friends, informing them that they were trapped in neck-deep water inside their car. Their loved ones were panicked as soon as they heard the news.
The police conducted a search operation amidst the continuing rain. Tragically, Ashwini’s body was found today near the Akeruvagu bridge, while her father’s whereabouts remain unknown. The police are currently continuing the search for Motilal.
