Worse Than Indian 2 Disaster?

A majority of South films were dubbed in Hindi this year considering the audience’s attraction towards them. But they failed to cross the mark of Rs. 3 crores.

Rajnikanth’s recent release Vettaiyan is also struggling to impress the Hindi audience and has collected only Rs. 0.70 crores in North India so far. The presence of Amitabh Bachchan could not help in its success in Hindi and despite Rajnikanth being a popular face in Maharashtra, people are hardly bothered to watch the film.

Expectations were also sky-high from Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. The first part was able to impress the audiences in North India despite being released a few weeks after the arrival of the Tamil version.

Even if the collections of the Hindi version are avoided, Indian 2 failed to recover the overall budget, bringing heavy losses for the producers.

The year started with HanuMan and Captain Miller, which were released on the same day. Although the former managed to bring crowds in a few Hindi shows, the closing collections were only Rs. 2.15 crores. The situation of Captain Miller was worse since it accumulated only Rs. 0.65 crores.

Audiences also rejected Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT, with collections of Rs. 2.10 crores, which is surprising if anyone recalls the response to the Hindi version of Master. The film, which was released in 2021, opened to a phenomenal response in North India at the time, with most of the shows running housefull despite certain rules imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from all these, Ram Pothineni’s Double iSmart also failed, earning only Rs. 0.45 crores. It was a sequel to the 2019 film, whose Hindi version received millions of views on YouTube. The response was the same to Dhanush’s Raayan, which earned Rs. 0.25 crores.
