Rajinikanth’s Jailer became a massive blockbuster last year, with cameos by Shiv Rajkumar, Mohan Lal, and others playing a significant role in its success. Now, directors seem to be repeating this formula in Rajini’s other films as well, starting with Vettaiyan and now with Coolie.
Rajinikanth has teamed up with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for the new film Coolie, which is rapidly growing in scale with an increasingly star-studded cast. In addition to Rajinikanth, the film features Kannada superstar Upendra.

Recently, Nagarjuna Akkineni has also joined the project.
The first-look poster introduces him as Simon, showcasing him in a dynamic avatar. Sporting fashionable shades and a gleaming gold watch, he exudes style and swag.

For Nagarjuna, Simon could be a pivotal comeback role. While he may not be the main lead, Akkineni fans would be thrilled if Lokesh Kanagaraj crafts a powerful role for him, akin to Vijay Sethupathi or Suriya’s roles in Vikram.
However, there’s also the risk that it could turn out to be underwhelming, similar to Arjun’s role as Herold Das in Leo, which failed to create any kind of impact. Despite the initial hype, Lokesh Kanagaraj couldn’t write a strong character for Arjun in that film.

Hopefully, Nagarjuna’s role in Coolie will not suffer the same fate and will be portrayed in a way that does justice to a senior star hero.
The film also stars Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir.
