In a recent promotional interview, Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who plays the role of revolutionary Jayaprakash Narayan in the film called it a “human error story”.
Talking about the film, the actor shared how it isn’t easy portraying Indira Gandhi. There aren’t many actresses who can play the role of Indira Gandhi. Kangana didn’t just put on makeup to transform into a great figure. She had to internalize her fears and her insecurities during that time.

He also spoke about his portrayal of ‘Lok Nayak’, Jayaprakash Narayanji. he talked about how not many people know about his contribution during the emergency.
He believes that the world should know about who Jayaprakash Narayanji was, what he went through, and how he contributed during that time.
He later went on to praise Kangana on how she did a fantastic job in bringing together the right people for the film.
Emergency is based on the 21-month period from 1975 to 1977 when former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency across the country by declaring internal and external threats to the country.
