Prince Harry was reportedly left “red-faced” with anger over Meghan Markle‘s reenactment of her first curtsy to the late Queen Elizabeth II in a viral clip from their Netflix docuseries, a body language expert claimed.
The series, titled Harry & Meghan, featured Markle recounting the meeting with the late monarch, which took place at the Royal Lodge in Windsor with Princess Eugenie. Harry explained the custom of bowing and curtsying to his grandmother, saying, “How do you explain that to people? How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother? And that you will need to curtsy. Especially to an American. That’s weird.”
Markle described the event as surreal, saying she didn’t know she was meeting the Queen until moments before. “It’s surreal. It wasn’t like some big moment of like, ‘Now you’re going to meet my grandmother,'” Meghan said. “I didn’t know I was going to meet her until moments before,” she added.
She recalled Harry asking in the car, “You know how to curtsy, right?” Markle said she initially thought it was a joke.
The Duchess then demonstrated the curtsy, adding a dramatic flourish and saying, “Pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty.”

Expert analyses Harry’s reaction

Body language expert Jesús Enrique Rosas analysed Harry’s reaction in the clip. Rosas said, as quoted by Daily Express, “The first part of Harry’s reaction tells me that he knew what was coming. He is serious even if Meghan is speaking quickly, joyfully, but there’s no connection, no empathy in him. He is serious and maybe even angry. Notice what happens with his throat; he is swallowing at that moment.”
Rosas observed what he interpreted as signs of Harry’s anger, noting his reddening face. He further added, “You can see the patches of red on his face are much redder – the cheeks, the bridge of the nose, the temples – it could be that he feels ashamed or angry.”
Rosas concluded, “I’m going to tell you why this is covert anger and not [Harry being] ashamed. If he was ashamed, he would have smiled a bit more or [had] a nervous laughter. But he knew what was coming and he couldn’t stand it – that he had that face at the beginning and had that subtle swallow right before Meghan did the curtsy.”
