Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 raised high hopes for the makers, who projected a lifetime gross of $25 million in North America.
They aimed to surpass the $20 million record set by Baahubali 2.

However, as the second Sunday concludes, it’s clear that Pushpa 2 is struggling to even reach its break-even point of $15 million.
The break-even point has been revised to $16 Million due to distributor-enabled passes, which reduce the distributor’s share.

Pushpa 2’s primary struggle lies in the underperformance of its Telugu version. So far, the Telugu version has grossed $7 million, a disappointing figure for a massive sequel with high expectations.
For comparison, NTR’s Devara, which lacks Pushpa 2’s massive sequel advantage or a star director, managed $5.5 million from its Telugu version.

The $1.5 million difference highlights the poor performance of the Telugu version of Pushpa 2. Ideally, the Telugu version of Pushpa 2 should have earned twice as much as Devara.
Fortunately, the Hindi version has contributed decently, preventing a worse scenario.
Also, the film’s mass-masala genre and mixed word-of-mouth after day one have further hindered its North American performance.
In conclusion, the Telugu version’s weak showing, especially after crashing on the first Monday, is the key factor behind Pushpa 2’s struggle.
Without strong numbers from the Telugu audience, achieving the $25 million target is out of reach. In the end Pushpa 2 will be disappointing venture when it comes to North America.
