Whole Kollywood Industry in Panic Mode

    Rajinikanth Vijay

For the past few years, Kollywood is in the worst phase, even though some movies such as Vikram, Jailer, and Leo have done wonders in the box office collections. Comparing to Kollywood’s potential, it’s very low, and various reasons play a key role in this alarming state of Kollywood.

Top-tier actors such as Vijay, Ajith Kumar, and Rajinikanth were not consistent for the past few years. Many factors clearly indicate that Ajith Kumar is not interested in acting in movies, as he wants to explore more as a biker than just an actor.

In the same case, Vijay is retiring from his acting career and entering politics. This has saddened the whole industry, and already distributors and theatre owners were in a heartbreak as Vijay was now in his prime time and he brings a huge audience to the theatres.

Also, Tier-2 actors except Dhanush and Silambarasan TR were not in an active state after Maanadu; his movie Pathu Thala was a disaster. Pathu Thala was released last year, and after this, he doesn’t have any movies released so far this year. Suriya hasn’t even had a single theatrical hit so far in the last 10 years.

Apart from these, there were also some reasons too, as after the top actors, there isn’t a new star born in the industry. Although Kavin and Manikandan were given a few hit movies, this isn’t enough to acclaim them as stars.
