Rajinikanth’s most anticipated Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14th, and the team officially announced the release date yesterday.
Three Kollywood biggies—Karthi’s Sardar 2, Suriya 45 directed by RJ Balaji, and Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharasi—were waiting for Coolie’s release date announcement to finalize their own release plans.

Now that Coolie’s release date has been confirmed for August 14th, there is strong speculation that the Sardar 2 team is aiming for a Diwali release. Earlier, it was expected that Coolie might be postponed to Diwali, but that possibility has now been ruled out.
At the same time, Suriya 45 and Madharasi are also eyeing a Diwali release, since the August slot is now sealed by Coolie and the October Pooja holiday slot has already been secured by Dhanush’s Idly Kadai.

It’s expected that among the three films, two will clash on Diwali, while one will likely postpone its release to November.
However, there are still no official announcements regarding the release dates of these three movies. It remains to be seen which two films will lock in the Diwali release slot and go head-to-head at the box office.
