The makers have now officially announced that the film will hit theaters on August 14, setting the stage for a massive box office showdown.
Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan and NTR’s War 2 team is also eyeing an Independence Day weekend release in August.

Earlier speculation suggested that Coolie might either be postponed or arrive earlier to avoid a clash. However, with the official confirmation of its August 14 release, the battle at the box office is inevitable.
Trade experts predict that both films will be impacted by this clash. Coolie is expected to dominate screens in South India, significantly reducing War 2’s theatrical presence in the region by nearly 40%.

Conversely, War 2 will dent Coolie’s collections in the North Indian market, where YRF has a strong foothold. This situation will also affect the film’s theatrical business in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
In South India, Coolie enjoys massive hype, largely due to Lokesh Kanagaraj’s current box office pull rather than just Rajinikanth’s stardom.
Outside Tamil Nadu, much of the craze in states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala stems from Lokesh’s track record.
Meanwhile, War 2 will rely on NTR’s pan-India star power, further boosted by Hrithik Roshan’s presence, making the clash even more intense.
Following Vikram’s success, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s films have gained significant traction in North India, as seen with Leo. However, going head-to-head with War 2 could limit Coolie’s reach in the Hindi belt.
Some fans feel that it’s not a clash, arguing that Hindi films have zero market in Tamil Nadu and Tamil films have zero market in Hindi. But that’s not entirely true.
Traditionally, good Hindi films have always performed well in major cities of Tamil Nadu.
Similarly, Lokesh Kanagaraj has built a solid craze among Hindi audiences. So, if marketed properly, Coolie could significantly impact War 2.
As of now, this clash is likely to harm War 2 more than Coolie.
We now have to see if the War 2 makers decide to postpone their release date, or if everything is set for one of the biggest box office battles ever.
