A 73-year-old British passenger died after a Singapore Airlines flight from London faced “sudden extreme turbulence” on Tuesday, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand. Over 80 were injured.
The plane, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew, dropped 6,000 feet in a span of just three minutes before it made an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, where medical staff used gurneys to ferry the injured to ambulances waiting on the tarmac.
British media identified the passenger who died as Geoff Kitchen who was a grandfather. He was accompanied on the flight by his wife Linda.
