WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new feature that allows users to forward video notes to multiple contacts simultaneously, eliminating the need to record the same video over and over again.
According to WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo, some beta testers now have access to a new camera mode that simplifies the process of sharing content in chats. Instead of having to tap and hold the camera icon in the chat bar, users can now record video notes directly within the camera interface.
This feature addresses previous confusion about how to send video notes, providing a more consistent and intuitive method. Currently, it is available to select beta testers for both Android and iOS users. A broader rollout is expected soon.
Other updates coming to WhatsApp users
In another update, WABetaInfo said soon WhatsApp channel owners be able to forward messages, photos, videos, and GIFs to their channels. They can also forward media from other apps like File Explorer directly to the WhatsApp channels.
"The introduction of the feature that allows for easy forwarding and sharing of messages, photos, videos, and GIFs directly to channels represents a significant advancement for channel owners. This feature simplifies the process of maintaining channels by eliminating multiple steps previously required," it added.
Users will no longer need to save media to their devices and manually upload it to the channel. They will be able to directly forward content from personal chats or share media from other apps, like File Explorers or the photo library, straight to their channels.
The feature is currently under beta testing for Android and is expected to roll out to more users soon.
However, this feature is only for WhatsApp channel owners and not admins or members.
In other news, WhatsApp is also testing a new Meta AI feature, where the GenAI chatbot will have the ability to generate AI images of users.
"This feature will allow users to take a single set of photos, which Meta AI will then use to generate AI images. Users must take setup photos that will be analysed to create these images, ensuring that the generated images accurately represent their appearance," WABetaInfo said.
After taking the pictures, users can ask Meta AI to generate an AI image of themselves by typing ‘Imagine me’ in the chat or by summoning the chatbot in personal conversations using "@MetaAI".
The report added that users will have full control over the feature and can delete their setup photos at any time through Meta AI settings.
