No. 5 LSU and Texas A&M’s rivalry meeting on Saturday won’t be the most impactful game when it comes to Rivalry Week.
Just don’t tell anyone one watching the game from Kyle Field that. While it’s true the Tigers have already secured their berth in the SEC Championship Game against top-ranked Georgia and are likely a non-factor in the College Football Playoff, a loss to the Aggies could be devastating to LSU’s hopes for a quality bowl bid, perhaps even in the New Year’s Day 6.
Besides, history suggests Brian Kelly and Co. should be cautious when traveling to take on the Aggies in College Station: Texas A&M has beaten the Tigers in each of their last two visits to Kyle Field, winning 20-7 in 2020 and 74-72 in seven overtimes in 2018 (a game that compelled the NCAA to change its overtime rules).
Conversely, Jimbo Fisher would love to end his season on a positive note, as the home game against the visiting Tigers is the team’s last one of the season. The Aggies are 4-7 heading into the game, a lackluster 20-3 win over UMass on Nov. 19 breaking a six-game losing streak.

Apart from that, an interesting sidebar to take note of is a potential reunion of former LSU signal-caller Max Johnson against his old team. Johnson was a two-year player in Baton Rouge, but hasn’t played since Oct. 1 with a hand injury. Will he get the chance to take on his old team?
Regardless, there’s plenty of reason to tune in and watch LSU-Texas A&M. Here’s how to watch:
