Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee was on Tuesday learnt to have been “responsive” to the idea of setting up a panel on the lines of Kerala’s Hema Committee to probe alleged sexual abuse in the Bengali film industry. The suggestion came from actor Ritabhari Chakraborty, who had approached the CM late last month and met her Tuesday.
Chakraborty confirmed the move. “She has assigned senior ministers to study the Hema Committee report to understand how the investigation was conducted and how the question-answer sessions were carried out,” Chakraborty told TOI.
