The Poco C55 has arrived in India – you can watch Xiaomi unveil the new entry level model below (the event starts at noon). The phone was first teased last week and a few more tidbits were published afterwards.
The faux leather back with decorative stitching is heavily featured in the promo images, it gives the C55 a more premium look. Being a C-series model, however, this will not have a premium price. The exact number will be announced live on stage, the C55 will be sold in partnership with Flipkart.
If you prefer, you can also watch the livestream on Twitter.
Xiaomi has been mum on the hardware details, it only shared vague info like the phone’s unnamed chipset scoring over 260K points on AnTuTu and claiming that the C55 will be the fastest phone in its segment.
Anyway, as a sneak preview you may want to have a peek at the Redmi 12C, there is speculation that the Poco C55 is based on just that model (with the addition of a fancier back, of course).
The Poco C50 was announced this January with a Helio A22 running Android 12 Go Edition and a starting price of ₹6,500 (actually, a bit less at first due to a launch discount). The C50 has a leather-like texture on its back but without the stitching.
