For anyone who has ever had to stand in an endless immigration queue after a very long flight, this news will feel like a breath of fresh air. India will make international travel speedier and less cumbersome with the launch of the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme, or FTI-TTP.

This is for Indian nationals and Overseas citizens of India cardholders, a new scheme that will let the pre-verified travelers pass immigration in seconds through automated e-gates.

It is a leap that will change the way millions of travelers move through airports. This program, launched at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport in June 2023, has already proved popular than 18,000 have enrolled so far, with thousands whisked through immigration sans stress.

The govt is expanding FTI_TTP to major other cities in India like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad, with plans to roll out at 21 airports across the country.

This will be a game-changer for those who had to join the mad dash against time in chaotic immigration halls. You simply walk up to an e-gate, scan your passport and boarding pass, confirm your identity with a quick fingerprint or facial recognition scan and you’re done. No more queuing up, looking at your watch nervously, or worrying about whether you will catch your connection.

The program decreases immigration time from as many as 30 minutes, often longer during peak times, down to just a few seconds. This is just monumental, for the most part, to those who travel extensively or deal with tight schedules daily.

For families who travel with young children, this may prove to be a godsend. Anyone who has queued for immigration with children will appreciate that kids get restless and parents will be anxious to keep everyone in line. With FTI_TTP, they can whisk through the procedures, making it a far easier experience when starting their holidays.

Of course, what makes this program remarkable is its emphasis on security, which cuts time significantly without cutting any corners of safety. Biometric data fingerprints and facial recognition of every traveler are to be kept safe and utilized for identity verification before being cleared.

Indeed, India is setting the pace for a new era in international travel, where long queues and frustrating waits could well be a thing of the past. It isn’t about saving time; it’s about making traveling fun. Be it the frequent flyer, the family jetting off on a holiday or a businessman up with the sun to catch an early flight, the FTI-TTP offers ease that has long been desired by travelers.

To millions of people inside and outside of India, the future travel to India just goy a whole lot better.
