Initially, there weren’t high expectations for Viswam, considering both Gopichand and Srinu Vaitla’s past films didn’t fare well.
However, after the teaser and trailer were released, there was a small glimmer of hope. Srinu Vaitla’s statement, “I’ve changed my comedy style,” also built modest anticipation among audiences.

While the humor and Gopichand’s action sequences did show some improvement, the overall result still didn’t meet expectations, even with Kavya Thapar’s presence adding oomph and glamour.
As a result, there seems to be a shift in the team’s approach towards its OTT release strategy.

The film, released in theaters on October 11 during Dussehra, is now being prepped for an early OTT release during Diwali. Reports suggest that Amazon Prime Video has purchased the digital streaming rights for ₹12 crores.
The platform is planning to release the film as a festive offering on October 29. If that date doesn’t work out, they are considering a November 3 release.
An official announcement is expected soon.
While the theatrical run might not have met expectations, films like these often perform better on OTT platforms. Only time will tell if Viswam finds success with the OTT audience.
