Vishwambhara: Chiranjeevi In Pan-India Films: Clear Mismatch?

The teaser for Chiranjeevi’s new movie, Vishwambhara, was released and got a lot of attention, mainly because of its visual effects (VFX).

Unfortunately, many people on social media criticized the VFX, saying it looked more like what you would see in a TV serial, which was unexpected since the production company, UV Creations, usually makes visually appealing films, irrespective of budget or box office.

Some viewers even compared the VFX unfavorably to another film, Adipurush, claiming that Adipurush had better visuals.

The teaser was supposed to be released on August 22, Chiranjeevi’s birthday, but it was delayed to improve the VFX. However, many felt the final product did not meet expectations.

This raises several questions: Why was the VFX not better? Did the VFX team have the right skills? Was the budget too low? Did the director underestimate the audience’s expectations? There might also have been issues with the choice of Chota K Naidu as the cinematographer.

Senior actors often face budget constraints when taking on large-scale pan-Indian projects due to limited revenue potential. Unlike Prabhas or Allu Arjun, stars like Chiranjeevi or Balakrishna may not deliver the same level of pan-India success.

This raises the question: should senior heroes focus on films with deeper emotional storytelling rather than projects that require huge budgets, which could lead to disappointing visuals if not executed well?

For new directors like Vassishta, making films with heavy VFX can be difficult without experience. Having a clear vision is important, but many factors must work together to create a visually impressive film.

Therefore, new directors should consider making more grounded films first and take time to learn how to achieve great visual effects.

Even if not all viewers are harsh critics, a minimum standard of quality is needed. If the teaser is disappointing, it raises concerns about the full film’s VFX quality.

Vishwambhara could still succeed if director Vassishta focused on creating an emotionally engaging film that appeals to families, similar to Bimbisara, which was a big hit despite being a not-so-great film, technically.
