In recent times, there has been a considerable rise in A-certified films in Tollywood. Earlier, filmmakers avoided this certification, fearing that they would lose family audiences.
In the past, producers were happy with a clean U certificate and even worried when a film received a U/A rating.

However, the trend has now changed completely. Filmmakers are now willing to take risks, believing that an A certificate itself creates buzz. As long as the content justifies it, they are not hesitating to include intense action, gore, or bold romantic elements.
Films like Salaar, Animal, and Baby have proven that an A certificate is no longer a barrier to success. Despite their mature content, these films became massive hits, leading to a dedicated market for such films.

Now, the upcoming film Laila, starring Vishwak Sen, is facing a similar situation. Produced by Sahu Garapati, the film has been surrounded by speculations since its first look.
As the film reaches the censor stage, the team is anxious about whether it will get a U/A or an A certificate. Some comedy sequences have a bold touch, making the censor board’s reaction unpredictable.

Adding to the intrigue, Vishwak Sen appears in a lady get-up for a significant portion of the film. The humor in these scenes is said to be full of double-meaning and suggestive dialogues, raising curiosity about how the censor board will respond.
If the film gets an A certificate without cuts, the team should be fine with it. However, if key scenes are censored, their response remains to be seen.
Our sources tell that Laila might most probably get an A certificate with a runtime of 2 hours and 15 minutes. We will get an official confirmation soon.
Vishwak Sen’s complete transformation and his effort to bring fresh entertainment in this role can be appreciated.
If the humor, even if adult-centric, is written well to suit today’s young audience, then it would be a plus point. But if it turns out crass, vulgar, and cringe, then it might hurt the film’s prospects at the box office.
Vishwak Sen is hoping for some relief with Laila after continuous flops.
