The Andhra Pradesh state government is actively working towards establishing the South Coast railway zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters.
During a recent visit to Visakhapatnam, Chandrababu Naidu directed the District Collector, Harendhira Prasad, to expedite the process of handing over the land to the Railways.

Subsequently, officials from the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and the Railways inspected the previously allotted lands in the Mudasarlova and Chinagadili areas of Visakhapatnam.
It has been mutually decided that the land in Mudasarlova should only be considered for setting up the railway zone.

The concerned officials of both departments examined 52 acres of land, verifying the boundaries and ensuring no encroachments.
The Railway authorities are willing to take over the land but they expressed concerns over past disputes and legal issues related to the site.

The area had previously faced encroachments, and efforts to reclaim it were met with legal challenges. To avoid future complications, the Railway authorities insist that the land be handed over with full legal rights and that a protective boundary be constructed around the site.
A detailed report of the same is being submitted to the government of Andhra Pradesh and very soon, a decision will be taken on the same.
