A wedding video from North India has gone viral, showing guests enjoying themselves with music, dance, and even public displays of affection. Which is mething uncommon in traditional Indian weddings. While some praised the couple for celebrating freely, others criticized the event for straying too far from cultural norms.
Many pointed out how North Indian weddings, especially in urban areas, have become more about partying than rituals. One user remarked, “North India or maybe NCR weddings are all about alcohol and nothing to do with mahurat, rituals, or convention. Now they’re doing chumma-chati in public.” Another called it “unreal degeneracy.”

However, others defended the celebration, saying people should be free to enjoy their special day. A user countered, “I see nothing wrong.
At least they are not bitching about others & creating fights & hate.” Some questioned why religion was being brought into the debate, while another noted, “Most upper middle class in North India are atheists. They look down upon religious people and mistreat Pandits.”

One has to understand that this is linked it to cultural shifts, stating, People who have lived outside India carry their own separate culture, and the ‘Indian mentality’ is in a way being forced upon them.
This viral video has reignited discussions on changing wedding traditions. Should weddings evolve with modern values, or should they preserve cultural customs?
