By Pankaj Khelkar: Veteran Bollywood and television actor Vikram Gokhal passed away on November 26. The actor, popularly known for his roles in films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, was admitted to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune earlier following health complications. His last rites were held today at Vaikunth crematorium in Pune. Vikram’s friends and family were present to bid him a teary goodbye.

VIKRAM GOKHALE CREMATED IN PUNE

Vikram Gokhale’s last rites were performed on November 26 at around 6 pm at Vaikunth Crematorium in Pune. The actor was 77 years old, as confirmed by his family friend Mr Damale. Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Chandrakant Dada Patil attended the funeral. Veteran theater actor Satish Alekar, actors Rahul Solapurkar, Pooja Pawar, Subodh Bhave, Mukta Barve, Kishore Kadam, Meghraj Raje Bhosle, and other close family members were present at the funeral.

Vikram Gokhale’s mortal remains were kept at Bal Gandharva Sabagruha for family and friends to pay their last respects. Vikram was admitted to the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune a few days ago, where he was undergoing treatment. His health started deteriorating today, and he was in a critical condition. Vikram breathed his last in Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital on November 26.

VIKRAM GOKHALE’S ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER

Vikram Gokhale was known for his on-screen roles in films like Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Parwana, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Agneepath, and Khuda Gawah. The prolific star, who has established himself in Indian cinema, is also a recipient of the National Award for Best Actor in 2010 for his performance in the Marathi film, Anumati. In television, he has worked in popular shows like Ghar Aaja Pardesi, Alpviraam, Jaana Na Dil Se Door, Sanjeevni, Indradhanush.

Gokhale was the son of Marathi theatre and film actor Chandrakant Gokhale, and following his stint in regional cinema, the actor made his directorial debut in 2010 with the film titled Aaghaat. His last outing was Abhimanyu Dassani and Shilpa Shetty-starrer Nikamma, which was released in theatres in June this year. Vikram Gokhale was also a social activist. His family’s charitable foundation provides financial support for disabled soldiers, Children of lepers, and education of orphan children.
