Veteran screenwriter V. Vijayendra Prasad, known for his grand historical narratives, has revised his casting preference for his upcoming film on Maharana Pratap.
Initially considering Hrithik Roshan, Prabhas, and Ranbir Kapoor for the titular role, the RRR writer is now leaning towards Vicky Kaushal after being highly impressed by his portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava.

According to Vijayendra Prasad, Vicky Kaushal’s physicality, intensity, and ability to handle period roles make him an ideal fit for the legendary Rajput warrior.
He emphasized that Maharana Pratap was known for carrying two swords weighing 25 kilos each, and the role demands both physical prowess and emotional depth.

Praising Chhaava, the writer remarked that many Indian historical films fail to truly capture the grandeur of their warriors. However, this project aims to rectify that by showcasing Maharana Pratap’s unwavering resistance against the Mughals and his remarkable courage.
Vicky Kaushal has definitely moved close to the top league with Chhaava though there are still doubts if he can carry a film that is contemporary with no historical characters.

Vicky is next playing Lord Parashuram in Amar Kaushik’s Mahavatar which is again a project that has huge potential to become a huge success at the box office.
While Chhaava could elevate Vicky’s stardom, it remains to be seen if he can consistently deliver at that scale. If Mahavatar and his other films become major successes, he could inch closer, but right now, the comparison feels premature.
Vicky has the talent, but commercially, he still has a long way to go before reaching Prabhas or Hrithik’s level.
Vicky can carve a top-tier career out of doing roles on our legendary heroes from our history or mythology that stir emotions in the hearts of Hindus.
