Varun Tej has been struggling with back-to-back failures like Ghani and Operation Valentine, which significantly dented the market he gained from hits like Fidaa and Gaddalakonda Ganesh.
All eyes are now on Matka, as Varun hopes it will be his turning point, much like how KGF transformed Yash’s career.

Matka is releasing on November 14th clashing with Suriya’s much-awaited pan-India adventure Kanguva. Though the teaser of Matka looks promising, the film still needs more buzz to compete with a giant like Kanguva.
Directed by Karuna Kumar, Matka is reportedly inspired by real-life events. The film focuses on the rise of Matka, a form of gambling that became a nationwide phenomenon in the 1960s.

Meanwhile, Kanguva, touted as the biggest project of Suriya’s career, is an ambitious pan-India venture. Made on one of the highest budgets in Tamil cinema, the film has created immense hype, particularly among Tamil audiences, with expectations equally high in the Telugu market.
Given Kanguva’s immense potential with positive word of mouth, it will be a tough challenge for Matka to stand out. Varun Tej’s film needs exceptionally strong content to withstand the box office storm Kanguva is expected to unleash, especially in the Telugu states.
