It’s a wrap for 2024, and Mega Prince Varun Tej has hit rock bottom this year.
Varun Tej had not one but two releases, both claiming to be pan-India films. The first, Operation Valentine, didn’t work in Hindi or Telugu, despite an aviation backdrop. The half-hearted attempt failed to find any audience in theaters, and no one discussed or appreciated the film on OTT either.

Varun Tej’s latest release, Matka also disappeared without a trace from the very first shows. The film had extremely low pre-release buzz, and even after its release, there was hardly any discussion. It turned into a complete disaster. With two back-to-back flops, Varun Tej had a disappointing 2024.
Once known for experimenting with various subjects, Varun Tej now appears uncertain about what works for him and what audiences expect from him. He seems unclear on both fronts—the types of films that suit him and audience expectations of him.
