Varun Dhawan has put a lot of stakes on his upcoming movie ‘Baby John’ and it is very natural too. It is an ambitious project and has some really good co-stars too. Keerthy Suresh is making her Bollywood debut with it.
And Varun wants this movie to be a turning point in his career from where he will be counted as a big action hero. But he seems to have very bad timing with his releases. This is one of the factors that his recent movies are not doing that well.

Varun’s ‘Street Dancer 3D’ came only one week after ‘Tanhaji’ which was doing pretty well at the box office and Street Dancer could not compete with it.
‘Bhediya’ too was released one week after ‘Drishyam 2’. Drishyam is a franchise with a lot of trust from audiences and Varun did not have much chance against it, despite being from the same universe as Stree.

Now Baby John is coming after two weeks of Pushpa 2. And Pushpa 2 is not going out of theaters anytime soon. Pushpa 2 is going to be a legendary success at the Hindi box office and there is no way that a remake of a South Indian movie can compete with it.
The scale is just too big and had Varun taken some other time into consideration, there would probably be a lot of hype for the movie. But now, Baby John is releasing at the time when they are shouting Pushpa 2 in every mouth.

Also there is a large chunk of the audience that does not go to the theaters more than once a month, and that audience will already be exhausted with Pushpa, leaving no space for Baby John.
