In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Narendra Modi won the seat with over 6.73 lakh votes securing 63.9 per cent of the vote share. He defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Shalini Yadav who got 18.5 per cent of the vote share. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Modi had bagged 56.4 per cent of the vote share, defeating rival Ajay Rai who got 7.3 per cent votes.
