UoH students stage protest against land auction

Students of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Saturday (March 29) staged a protest on the campus against the government’s decision to auction 400 acres in Kancha Gachibowli.

The protest began between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. near the main gate. About 30-40 students gathered with placards, raising slogans against the government’s decision. Later, the Gachibowli police tried to disperse them.

Gachibowli police inspector Mohd. Habubullah Khan said no student was detained, and no case was registered. He confirmed that the protest ended peacefully within a short time.

Despite police intervention, student leaders vowed to continue their agitation until the State government withdraws the plan of auction and officially registers the land as university’s.
