UGC NET 2024: The National Testing Agency has announced the new dates for the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) 2024 June session exam.

The NCET 2024 exam will be held on July 10. While the Joint CSIR UGC NET will conducted from July 25 to 27, the UGC NET June 2024 Cycle will be held between August 21 and September 4.

Meanwhile, the All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) 2024 will be conducted on July 6, as scheduled earlier.

Earlier the exam for the June shift was conducted on June 18 in two shifts, however on June 19 the exam was cancelled. The exam on June 18 was held in two shifts in over 317 cities, for which more than 9 lakh candidates appeared for the exam.

A day after its ‘successful conduction’ the Ministry of Education cancelled the exam claiming that the “integrity may have been compromised”, after receiving input about the alleged leak generated by the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Festive offer

Addressing a press conference, the newly-elected minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, “Soon after it was clear that the UGC-NET question paper on darknet matches the original question paper of UGC-NET, we decided to cancel the examination. We take responsibility and have to rectify the system.”

Furthermore, after the CBI investigation, it was discovered that the paper was leaked on June 16, just two days before the exam over the darknet and other encrypted social media channels and suspended to sold for more than 5 lakh rupees.

The cancellation also affected the CSIR UGC NET exam which was scheduled to be conducted on June 25 to 27. It was also postponed by the Education Ministry “as a matter of abundant precaution”, if this exam and the question paper exam were leaked over the dark web.

UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year in June and December to decide the eligibility for assistant professor, grants Junior Research Fellowship and enrollment in PhD programmes in Indian university.

This year, NTA conducted the UGC NET in pen-paper mode on behalf UGC, however, before 2018 the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) used to conducted the UGC-NET.
